Between Amstetten and Grein you can find the Schiffsmeisterhaus (ship master’s house) in close proximity to the Danube.

Built in the 16th century, this house was an important trading hub for the shipping industry and the entire region. In 2001, the entire building was renovated. The Schiffsmeisterhaus offers something for everyone – be it a cosy get-together in the inn, dinner at the restaurant, relaxing hours in the hotel, or as a stop-over for cyclists or meeting point for the local population.
