Description
The 751-meter-high Bischofberg in the area of the Lower Austrian municipality of Ertl is located in the hill country of the Eisenwurzen region, between the Upper Austrian Enns Valley and the Ybbst Valley in Lower Austria.
Location: Mostviertel, Upper Austria/Lower Austria border, Ybbstaler Alps, Ertl municipality.
The mountain is an open hilltop, with two forest islands and four farmsteads, above Maria Neustift. In the north of the Bischofberg is the Urlursprung.
Hikes in the surroundings
- Starting from the village center of Ertl, the hiking trail to the Url Ursprung leads along meadow paths and through forests to Haus Bischofberg. The 11.5 km long trail offers a beautiful insight into the nature of the Mostviertel. The destination of the tour is the starting point in Ertl. Duration approx. 3:30 h.
- Starting from the kindergarten in Ertl the hiking trail Voralpenblick starts, over meadows and on the Voralpenstraße up to the Buchenberg to the lookout Voralpenblick. An 11.5 km long and easy hike. Duration approx. 3h.
Excursion tip
From the lookout Voralpenblick the view reaches over the Mostviertel hilly landscape to the foothills of the Alps.
