Auf den Spuren des Clusius

Outdoor adventure, Scenic lookout

Description

Ötscher, Lackenhof

He brought us the horse chestnut, the tulip, the potatoes. And about 430 years ago he climbed the Ötscher, described its plants and thus provided one of the oldest testimonies to the study of alpine flora. We are talking about Charles de l'Écluse, called Clusius (1526-1609), the important court botanist of Emperor Maximilian II.
Many Eastern Alpine plant species bear the name of the scholar, e.g. the Clusius gentian, the Clusius primula or the Clusius blackberry. On his tracks, an exciting journey of discovery leads to the unique flora of the alpine Mostviertel.
Once a month you can take a guided hike in the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Resort in the footsteps of the famous scientist and learn everything about the alpine plants, the surrounding peaks and the history of the Ötscher.
