Description
From the Ostarrichi document (“Ostarrichi” is the Old High German name for Austria) up to the signing of the treaty of the European Union: The Ostarrichi Kulturhof takes you through Austria's history in 7 steps. Starting with the document from the year of 996 to the most challenging moments of the 20th century up to the moment of joining the EU, the museum presents the history of the Alpine country in a lively way. The interactive exhibition is entertaining and offers access to one of the most interesting documentations concerning the notion and idea of Austria.
One-thousand-year-old seed corns can be examined from up close. "Fanny", the oldest inhabitant of the Wachau region – a statue that was manufactured 34,000 years ago – is introducing herself. Information on the Babenbergs, the Crown lands of the Habsburg monarchy and politics after 1945 are conveyed in a vivid and comprehensible manner.
Ostarrichi Kulturhof: Creative history lessons for children and adolescents
Young people can follow an age-appropriate and playful demonstration of historical events and milestones at the Ostarrichi Kulturhof: A comprehensive educational programme invites them to marvel, explore and learn. This way, the little guests can take on the role of emperor, make their own crown or impress the seal on their very own Ostarrichi document.
Older children and young people are motivated to actively explore historical and current events at the multi-touch screens or the Europe game table.
