State Theater of Lower Austria
Theatre
Description
Today's Landestheater Niederösterreich was originally built in 1820 by Josef Schwerdfeger. It was rebuilt and expanded in 1890, 1968 and 2012. It has been considered spoken theater since 2005.
With its own ensemble and top-class guests and plays, the theater has been able to establish itself very well in downtown St. Pölten. In addition to its own and co-productions, it offers international guest performances, readings, children's and youth theater and other special events. In addition to an extensive educational program for all age groups, the Landestheater also acts as an intermediary and platform for contemporary literary creation in connection with the Peter Turrini dramatist grant.
The house on the central town hall square is divided into a large house, a theater workshop and the nearby stage in the courtyard (Linzer Str. 18, 3100 St. Pölten).
Educational offers in the Landestheater Niederösterreich:
Mediation for school & kindergarten or children & young people (holiday workshops), Play introductions and audience discussions for children and adults, annual citizen theater, theater lab, child care for selected afternoon performances, house tours, annual theater festival (costume, fabric and props flea market, readings, children's activities).
