Through the valley or on the high plateau, and always a good view of Mt. Ötscher: Cross-country skiing in Annaberg is both a fun sports activity and a treat for your senses.
Annaberg is known to skiers not only as a very family-friendly sports resort but as one with fantastic views – after all this is the place with the best view of the impressive Mt. Ötscher, the Mostviertel's most prominent summit. A fantastic panorama, however, is also granted to cross-country skiers who can glide through the region around Mt. Ötscher on perfectly groomed tracks.
For experts
Starting at the parking lot of Mt. Tirolerkogel, the Annaberg cross-country ski track (approx. 7 km) runs around Mt. Scheiblingberg and leads to a high plateau; with its ascents and descents it is best suited for advanced cross-country skiers.
For connoisseurs
The ideal track for beginners is the comfortable Lassingtal-Joachimsberg track (approx. 9 km) that leads from the village of Sägemühle along the romantic Lassingbach stream to Reith, taking you back on the same route on the other side of the stream. Those who are not afraid of a sporty detour can take a turn in Reith into the Joachimsberg round (approx. 3 km) – from up there, you can marvel at Mt. Ötscher in all its glory. All cross-country ski tracks have both a classic track and a skating track.
Insiders' tip: If you don't have your own cross-country skiing equipment, you can simply rent it from the ski rental in Annaberg.
