The snow realms: Hochkar ski resort

From beginners to professionals and free riders: Lower Austria's highest and most snow-sure ski resort is always worth a visit for winter sport enthusiasts of all kinds.

The Hochkar ski resort, located high above Göstling an der Ybbs, not only impresses with its exceptional guarantee for snow from December to April but also with a wide range of options and offers that appeal to all winter sport enthusiasts alike.

Hochkar – the cradle of ski racing

Austrian skiing star Thomas Sykora learned how to ski here, and also his colleagues Kathrin Zettel and Katharina Gallhuber call Mt. Hochkar their athletic home. You do not have to master the art of skiing at World Cup level, though, to feel comfortable on Mt. Hochkar, some 150 km from Vienna.

Next to 19 kilometres of slopes in all difficulty levels and seven lift systems, the slope afficionado usually also finds perfect piste conditions here. Challenges for experienced skiers are for instance the so-called Draxlerloch steep slope (slope no. 8) as well as the Thomas Sykora slope (slope no. 10a).
With the "Kids Card", kids (born in 2007 and younger) can make their first skiing attempts, but also older children can go wild on the Route 99 (snow trail with steep turns).

Freeride Mecca & skiing pleasure at night

Due to the snow-guaranteed altitude between 1,300 and 1,800 m, Mt. Hochkar offers perfect conditions for wonderful deep snow runs throughout the season.

Insiders' tip: A special highlight awaits holiday guests and skiers on selected dates around the holidays: If you go night skiing on the pasture slope and take a well-deserved break at the rustic Latschen-Alm hut or the traditional Hochkarhof inn, the best après ski and mountain hut atmosphere is guaranteed.
