Spring Perry Festival: Celebrating under blooming trees

The so-called "Moststraße", the Perry Road, celebrates the dawn of spring with the magical fruit tree blossom and a colourful series of festivities.

During the Spring Perry Festival from April up until June, the municipalities, innkeepers and excursion destinations along the Moststraße invite their guests to go out into blooming nature and discover culinary treasures.

Every year around the middle/end of April, around one million fruit trees make the Mostviertel – Europe's largest contiguous meadow orchard area – look like it is floating on white clouds. The Mostviertel pear tree blossom is a delight not only for the keen observer but also for gourmets – it serves as the perfect backdrop for a whole series of events on the approximately 200 km long "Moststraße" (Perry Road) celebrating spring, the perry pear tree and perry itself.

Welcoming spring with treats and joy

“Mostfrühling” - Spring Perry Festival – is the name of the festive event series that is centred around the single-variety perry for which the Mostviertel is so well known: single-variety perries such as "Rote Pichlbirne", "Dorschbirne", "Stieglbirne" or "Blutbirne" are served here. Specialties from the traditional "Heurigen" taverns and dishes refined with the characteristic taste of perry and pears are a great accompaniment.

Day of the Perry

The Spring Perry Festival is the perfect and most beautiful time of the year to spend a weekend getting to know the region and its signature drink from their most attractive sides. Highlight of the festivities is the "Day of the Perry" on the last Sunday in April. Traditional taverns and restaurants along the Moststraße, Perry Barons, excursion destinations and other places invite you to enjoy tastings, cosy get-togethers with music, guided hiking tours and rallies.
