Pear tree blossom season in the Mostviertel region
Lush fruit trees in full bloom form a magnificent backdrop along the so-called "Moststraße"(Perry Road) around mid-April.
In the middle of April, the so-called "Moststraße" (Perry Road) shines in a dress of white blossoms every year. More than one million fruit trees transform the mild northwest of the Mostviertel region into a white sea of flowers for about 2 weeks.
The sight never fails to impress: Everywhere along the 200 kilometres of the "Moststraße", the so-called Perry Road, pear trees are in bloom, adding fragrant white accents all over the gentle hills of the landscape. At this time of the year it is a special pleasure to explore nature and gather impressions either by foot or by bike. More than 300,000 pear trees transform the western Mostviertel region in the time between the middle and end of April in an enchantingly white sea of flowers. The pear tree blossom season is followed by the blossoming of the apple trees which wraps the landscape in a pale pink dress even days after the pear tree blossom.

Tips for pear blossom views
The most comprehensive view across the blossoming country presents itself if you follow the signs along the Lower Austrian Moststraße (Perry Road).
A particularly beautiful car or motorcycle tour is the route along the panoramic tour along the Moststraße. It leads to the most beautiful viewpoints along the flowering Moststraße. One of the tour's most beautiful sections is the drive along the so-called Mosthöhenstraße (Panoramic Perry Route). It runs from St. Peter in der Au to St. Michael am Bruckbach to St. Georgen in der Klaus. From here, the tour continues to the Sonntagberg Basilica which offers fantastic views of the hills of the Moststraße in the north and the Prealps in the south. Alternatively, you can return to Seitenstetten via Biberbach. From the village Kollmitzberg, one enjoys a great view over the mountain chain from the pinnacles of Schneeberg to Traunstein and from the plains of Donauland to the Bohemian Massif.
The greatest hiking & cycling tours
The "Karl-Lammerhuber-Blick-Weg" is winding its way about seven kilometres around the village Biberbach, rolling softly up and down the hills. So, also less ambitioned hikers will have pleasant and leisurely walk.
Cyclists go on the Mostbaron-Tour (= Perry Baron Bicycle Tour), which leads about 54 kilometres in a wide arc around the city Amstetten and has its starting and end point in Ardagger Stift. Make sure to safe enough time for making a rest at one of the many traditional taverns (so-called "Heurigen") in Stephanshart, Zeillern, Neuhofen or Euratsfeld.
Celebrating pear & perry: Most Spring
Time for party! As temperatures rise, the fruits of Mostviertel are celebrated: During the Spring Perry Festival (Mostfrühling), go on special hiking tours along orchards or visit a Mostkirtag with brass music and small delicacy stands. The Perry Day (Tag des Mostes), which is celebrated every year on the last Sunday of April, is the highlight in this series of events.
