Spring in the Mostviertel

Allow yourself to fall under the spell of pure spring fever – with a trip into the blooming Mostviertel region.

Cornelian cherries in March, pear trees in April and wine grapes in May: When their tender buds open, the Mostviertel becomes a beautiful flowering region.

As the Mostviertel is standing in full bloom, it’s time to celebrate: Winemakers of the Traisen Valley open their doors for tasting Grüner Veltliners and Rieslings during Wine Spring (Weinfrühling). Along Perry Road, everything revolves around the pears. You feel the taste of the region and take a look behind perry production at the Spring Perry Festival (Mostfrühling), whose definite highlight is the Perry Day (Tag des Mostes) celebrated each year on the last Sunday of April.

After having tried rich culinary delicacies, hiking and cycling are a welcome change: Make your way through a countryside that is just reawakening from winter sleep.
