Winter in the Mostviertel
As the first white flakes fall down, Mostviertel Alps start to become a snow paradise for all winter sports enthusiasts. Offside the slopes, one finds time for rest and contemplation.
Grippy slopes and cosy huts: In winter, the Mostviertel ski resorts and cross-country skiing centres invite you to enjoy great fun in the snow. Away from the slopes, you will find peace and contemplation.
In this season, the about 2,000-metres-high Mostviertel mountains are covered with white icing. Four great and several small but fine ski areas with a dimension of about 110 runaway kilometres spread over a region where pioneer Matthias Zdarsky once invented skiing. Offside the slopes, holidaymakers try out cross-country skiing, tobogganing, ice-skating, snow-shoeing or alpine touring in pure nature.
Family-friendly winter: Full of contrasts
Apart from the family-oriented ski areas, the young ones will immediately feel at ease at the four-sided farmyards. The Ybbstal Saltwater Spa is the right place for relaxation after a strenuous day of skiing. Enchanted castles, opulent abbeys and ancient smithies become stages for atmospheric Christmas villages during the Advent season.
