Schloss Viehofen

Kastély, Múzeum

Leírás

The Viehofner Schloss was first mentioned in 1130, but is thought to be older. After several changes of ownership, it was inhabited and owned by the Kuefstein family until 1945. Parts of the castle complex were demolished in 1960.
Next to the castle is the Gothic chapel dedicated to St James.
Since 2003, the Figl family has been restoring the castle with great dedication and sensitivity. The old building fabric has been restored as faithfully as possible.
The furnishings of the rooms were reconstructed using historical building materials such as windows, doors, floors and stoves. Among other things, numerous 18th century windows from Herzogenburg Abbey were installed. One room has a star-shaped wooden floor from a former inn.
The vaulted hall on the ground floor is adapted for various events. The hall on the first floor with its marble floor provides a festive setting for weddings. The historic building is the ideal venue for events.
Individual rooms or the entire castle can be hired out for exclusive celebrations.
The Figl family looks forward to making your event something special. On request, they will assist you with the organisation of your celebration.
This is the first time that Viehofen Castle has been made accessible to the public.
